The Virgil Abloh Archive x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG "Alaska" revives a legendary 2018 archive prototype as a near-identical all-white deconstructed recreation — featuring exposed foam, signature zip-tie, "V.A.A. for Nike" medial branding, and special packaging honoring the late designer's legacy.
Details and Design
Flooded white leather upper: A premium all-white deconstructed leather build with semi-detached panels and exposed stitching reveals the construction layers — Virgil Abloh's signature design philosophy made tangible.
Oversized Swoosh: The signature sewn-on oversized Swoosh is attached via exposed blue stitching, with a bright orange tab anchoring it for a bold pop of contrast against the monochrome canvas.
Exposed foam tongue: An elongated tongue features exposed foam padding with an off-center Nike Air tag, maintaining the unfinished, intentional aesthetic that defined Abloh's "The Ten" collaboration series.
"AIR" midsole stamping: Bold "AIR" text is printed in block lettering across the lateral sidewall of the off-white rubber midsole, calling attention to the Nike Air cushioning beneath.
"V.A.A. for Nike" branding: The medial side panel now reads "V.A.A. for Nike" — replacing the original "Off-White for Nike" text to reflect the transition from the brand to the Virgil Abloh Archive, the entity carrying on the designer's work.
Signature light blue zip-tie: The iconic Off-White zip-tie motif appears in light blue, a subtle accent that has become one of the most recognizable details in sneaker collaboration history.
"SHOELACES" text laces: Extra shoelaces in white, grey, purple, and black options feature the trademark "SHOELACES" Helvetica text, giving wearers multiple styling options.
"85" inner print: A numeric "85" print on the inner side references Abloh's earlier Air Jordan 1 designs, connecting this release to his broader Jordan collaboration legacy.

Why This Pair Stands Out
Archive prototype brought to life: Originally shown as a prototype at the "Figures of Speech" exhibition at ICA Boston, the "Alaska" was a concept that never reached the public — until now. This release transforms an archival design into a wearable reality.
Nearly identical recreation: The 2026 release is a faithful, near-identical recreation of the original 2018 Europe-exclusive colorway, preserving every deconstructed detail that made it legendary.
Legacy continuation: Released under the Virgil Abloh Archive (V.A.A.) banner, this sneaker represents the ongoing mission to honor and extend the late designer's creative vision — with a portion of proceeds donated to the Virgil Abloh Foundation.
Special packaging: The shoe arrives in a custom Air Jordan 1 box with circular cutouts that open from the side, a transparent slide-out inner case stamped with V.A.A. and Jumpman logos, and a "MODERNISM IS NOT NEW" booklet containing Abloh's original sketches and design notes.
Cultural significance: As one of the most influential sneaker designers of all time, every posthumous Abloh release carries weight — and the "Alaska" stands as a clean, monochrome testament to his deconstructed design language.
